TAX COLLECTOR'S HOURS

Same as the Town Clerk's
when Town & County Taxes will be payable beginning January 2, 2008.

Collection of  Town and County Taxes
are due in January with no penalty. A 1% penalty is added in February, and a 2% penalty is added in March. Tax rolls are returned to the County Treasurer the first week of April.

According to the New York State law, the property owner is responsible for all taxes and penalties which may be applicable whether or not they receive a bill. 
If you feel you should have received a bill and do not have it by January 7, please contact the office for a duplicate copy.

Your bank or mortgage company will receive a printout of the taxes on properties for which they hold escrow accounts. Upon payment of the taxes by the bank or mortgage company, the receipt is mailed directly to the homeowner.

The tax bill will go to the OWNER ON OUR RECORDS at the time the bills are printed by the County.

Village of Odessa taxes are due in June
and are collected at the Village Office.

School Taxes are due in September

MARRIAGE LICENSES

Requirements for a Marriage License:
Must be 18 years of age or bring parents with you.
Must show either drivers license or birth certificate - birth certificate preferred.
Must know where you were born.
Should know where your parents were born.
Need to know your mother's maiden name.
If you have been married before, you MUST show the divorce papers
from ALL previous divorces - not just the last one -
without these papers, NO LICENSE WILL BE ISSUED!
Must get your license at least 24 hours prior to the marriage,
but can get it up to 60 days prior.
The fee for a marriage license is $40.

HUNTING & FISHING LICENSES

New York State DEC Licenses are available in our offices.

Sporting License Sales begin on or about August 11, 2008

Requirements for a Sporting License:
If this is the first year you have applied for a license, you must show proof of Hunter Safety. If you are asking for a bow license, you must also have a Bow Hunter Safety Course. These courses are usually free of charge and held in the late summer/early fall. Proof of previous licensure is required if this is a subsequent license. With the new computerized system, if you purchased a license since 2003, you will be in the DEC's database in our office. 
If you are applying for Deer Management Permits, please know which area you are requesting - once in the computer, there is no changing the area.
Junior Hunters must bring at least one parent with them to sign the license.

DOG LICENSES

All dogs over the age of 4 months must be licensed. 

Requirements at the time of Licensing:
Proof of a current Rabies vaccination signed by a licensed veterinarian OR a signed letter from a licensed veeterinarian stating that a rabies vaccination would endanger the life of the dog.
Proof of spayed/neutered license if applicable.
Licenses are valid for 1 year.
Each license is assigned a permanent official identification number. A metal ID tag with the number is provided with the license.
Dog License Fees:
Spayed/Neutered Dog    $6.25
Unspayed/Unneutered Dog  $14.25
